Dr. Chavez-Mancillas, MSW, DVAT is currently the Program Director for the National Latino Behavioral Health Association Western Regional Chapter. With a career spanning over two decades, she has devoted herself to the behavioral health field, specializing in providing bilingual and bicultural mental health and substance abuse services to Latino children and families in the multicultural settings of Southern California. In her previous roles as Co-Director and Acting Project Director of the National Hispanic Latino Addiction Technology Transfer Center and National Hispanic Latino Prevention Technology Transfer Center, she demonstrated a commitment to clinical excellence and enhancing diversity. She has held various positions throughout her career, including substance abuse counselor/specialist, case manager, therapist, program coordinator, team supervisor, and Program Director. Her leadership is characterized by a collaborative approach and deep expertise in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and team management. With over a decade of experience in supervisory roles, she has consistently fostered inclusive work environments that celebrate and embrace diversity.

Dr. Chavez-Mancillas’s academic journey reflects her commitment to professional development. She earned her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of California Riverside, and later obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in families and aging from California State University Los Angeles. She received her doctorate from the University of Southern California. Additionally, she holds a Certification and an Associate of Science degree in Substance Abuse and Alcohol Counseling from Mount San Antonio College. Recognized for her leadership potential, she completed the National Hispanic and Latino Executive Leadership and Fellowship Program in 2021.

Beyond her clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Chavez-Mancillas has actively contributed to increasing diversity, her efforts have focused on expanding the participation of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups. This commitment underscores her dedication to addressing health disparities and ensuring equitable representation in the field. She is a dedicated professional, blending academic accomplishments, with hands-on experiences to make significant contributions in behavioral health. Her leadership, commitment to diversity, and the ongoing pursuit of knowledge position her as a respected figure poised to continue positively impacting the lives of those she serves and championing inclusivity in her communities.
