The Family Advocate is responsible for providing family-based wrap around case management services to teen mothers and their children. In coordination with other campus staff, the Family Advocate ensures that targeted, wraparound services help teen mothers prioritize education, build emotional intelligence and positive relationships, learn to navigate resources, maintain health and wellness, and develop parenting skills. The Family Advocate reports to the Bilingual Clinical Service Manager.
Essential Functions:

- Provides significant support and case management by helping teen mothers, some of whom are Spanish-speaking English Language Learners to navigate institutional systems (e.g., legal, community-based, health, human services, etc.) and coaches them in processes for seeking and attaining services/benefits for themselves and their children.
- Sets service appointments (e.g., with probation officers, case managers, health providers, etc.) and assists with transportation as needed.
- Reviews home visitation check lists, compiles paperwork, and completes follow-up for service appointments.
- Advocates and/or participates in mediation to assist teen mothers to obtain what they and their children need from various agents.
- Tracks output data (i.e., number/nature of appointments, progress on level of intervention, etc.).
- Helps teen mothers to develop self-awareness through providing skills that build emotional intelligence, communication, healthy relationships, and leadership both in one on one and group settings.
- Provides key logistical support to youth with opportunity for public speaking activities, including coordination of childcare availability where appropriate and coaching on speaking points.
- Tracks output data (i.e., student/alumnae participation, external collaborations, etc.).
- Helps teen mothers heighten awareness on preventative measures and responses to youth violence and crime.
- Establishes a strong presence on campus and promotes meaningful interpersonal communications with Florence Crittenton Services’ youth and their families in order to develop trust.
- Promotes an environment that values personal safety and risk prevention in support of academic success and personal development.
- Assists program staff on inter-agency collaboration for ongoing delivery of activities addressing issues of domestic violence, sexual violence and rape, stalking, harassment, bullying, and other forms of violence.
- Helps link youth to key resources including clinical staff who are able to provide intervention (e.g., restorative justice, one-on-one intervention, counseling, etc.).
- Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of Florence Crittenton Services.

- Knowledge of computers including word processing, data base management, internet, social media, and Google Drive. Ability to use and knowledge of web-based data systems.
Education:
Bachelors degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Two or more years of experience in any of the following or related fields: mental health, nonprofit or case management, youth development, social work is required.
- Two or more years of experience working with youth is preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in case management is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Passing a driving record (MVR) and criminal history background checks will be required prior to the start of employment.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Compensation
- Hiring Range is $48,000 – $52,000 commensurate with experience
