2026 Annual University of New Mexico Rural Psychiatry Spring Conference

The University of New Mexico Annual Rural Psychiatric Conference is dedicated to raising awareness of the critical importance of behavioral health within urban and rural communities, particularly among the Latino population. This event brings together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and advocates to discuss current challenges and innovative strategies for improving mental health care, with a special focus on enhancing services for substance use disorders. Through expert presentations and collaborative discussions, the conference aims to foster a supportive network and promote effective solutions for the unique mental health needs of rural populations. The conference is also proud to highlight the participation and expertise of Fred Sandoval, NLBHA Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Yolanda Rodriguez, NLBHA Board President, whose leadership continues to advance culturally responsive behavioral health services, workforce development, and community engagement initiatives across diverse Latino and rural communities.
