DESCRIPTION:Con un tono familiar y a forma de plática\, se tratará el tema del duelo o luto desde la perspectiva cultural Hispana y Latina. ¿Como vivimos nuestros duelos? ¿Cuáles son las fuentes de resiliencia o fortaleza? ¿Qué papel juega la familia\, la espiritualidad\, y las costumbres tradicionales al procesar el duelo? Estas y otras preguntas y tópicos serán elaborados por la Doctora Martínez y por Enrique\, coach de vida. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLa información ofrecida estará basada en la evidencia y enriquecida por las experiencias personales de los ponentes. Entendiendo que las pérdidas no son solo a causa de la muerte de un ser querido\, también se abordará los temas del trauma ancestral y las consecuencias de la pandemia. Es necesario romper el estigma sobre la salud mental para que todos\, niños\, adultos\, y ancianos podamos vivir mas serenos y felices. Los invitamos a que nos acompañen y aporten sus propias experiencias y preguntas sobre como procesar el duelo. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSobre Los Presentadores\n\n\n\nDr. Mercedes Martinez \n\n\n\nLa doctora Mercedes Martinez es una psiquiatra diplomada. Cursó un “Child Fellowship” en la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago y su entrenamiento en psicología adulta la recibió en la Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science. Fue becada con el Ginsburg Fellowship para el grupo de la Promoción de Psiquiatría desde 1995 a 1997. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEnrique Lopez-Escalera\, MSW \n\n\n\nEnrique López-Escalera es el dueño de Gemas de Vida\, LLC. Es un entrenador de vida certi􀃶cado y recibió una maestría en trabajo social en el 2023. Es un contratista privado con la Asociación Nacional Latina de Salud Mental con programas enfocados a promover la salud mental en las comunidades Hispanas del sur de Nuevo México. También cuenta con licenciaturas en teología y derecho canónico. Su pasión es servir a la comunidad.

DESCRIPTION:This one-day event focuses on mental health and substance use research recommendations for the Hispanic/Latino (H/L) community.  NLBHA will present its eCompendium of Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) and Guide\, curated by the Evidence-Based Practice Subcommittee (EBPSC). \n\n\n\nEsteemed speakers include Dr. Nora Volkow\, Dr. Lisa Cacari-Stone\, and Dr. Cristina Rabadán-Diehl\, will address community-based research challenges and the need for new innovative research efforts for the Hispanic/Latino/a community.    \n\n\n\nThrough a participatory-based approach\, the attendees of the symposium will contribute to developing directions and recommendations for future Hispanic/Latino/a/ practice\, research\, and policy. \n\n\n\nThe Symposium will contribute to the development of a Latino Research Policy Paper that will document findings and recommendations to inform the advancement and development of Latino evidence-based practices and programs. \n\n\n\nThis policy paper will be distributed to various stakeholders including community-based organizations\, research centers\, policymakers\, and government entities. \n\n\n\nNLBHA will propose recommendations for improving research equity and addressing disparities in Latino behavioral health research and practice.
